SX Election

I was thinking, and thought it would be really fun to have a mock election for the two Mod spots (cypher and shadowe would stay admins indefinately). To my understanding, the mods don't do very much..

The election could take place every 6 months or year or so, some long period of time.

Nominations would take place, but no member can nominate themselves. A thread could be made for everyone to post who they think the best candidate would be, and the top three would run. The current two mods would automatically be re-added to the running list, to give a total of five possible cadidates for the two mod spots.

There could be campaigns and such after the nominees have been decided..

Cypher and Shadowe would screen all possibilities to make sure no unqualified members would make it onto the list of the five candidates.

The new mods would have to take over the current mod's responsibilities, and should they fail during their time in position, one of the admins could "impeach" them and take the third most popular member to resume their position.

Umm that's all I've thought of for now. I know the mods have been in their status for a good while now, or at least tech. I just think it would be fun to try out, and if it doesn't work AFI and Techneon could always be reinstated. Just an idea. ;)

Theres a diference between a 'mock' election and people actually getting a job. You refered to this as both, which exactly are you suggesting?

I don't think its a good idea to 'vote' for the moderators, at least how the forums are run now anyways. Maybe if somekind of 'joke' forum (ie:flame!!!!!) forum it would be fun to nominate the best flamer or something.

But simply as a 'mock' election, sure sounds like fun.

i think the mod system is fine how it is now.... i dont like the idea of voting to give some members executive power over this site.. it works how it is.. why change it...

plus i like how cypher put it when he said that to be a mod one needed to make some special contribution to sx... (like afi posting every week on the main page.. blah blah blah i've said this before...)

I think things are fine the way they are. A completely "mock" election would be fun though as Marc already stated. As far as picking actual mods, this is Cypher's site thus I feel we should leave it up to Cypher to pick the mods.

as we grow in members, we will need more mods/staff, its then we shall decide who gets what.

and by we he means him and the other mods... not us as a whole at sx... but i believe thats how it works.. he runs this site, so he decides whos does the most contribution and who can hold the responsibility of being a mod

im just really against the voting idea because then favoritism of the members may come into play... i fear that someone who isnt really qualified.. or maybe even up for the job will get "elected," and that wont work...

plus i also think voting might fuel the separation going on in this forum... like friends will vote for their friends and so on... soon we will have a huge sectional debate type thing.. almost like mid 1800's in America w/ the Civil war... i say, keep the separation to a minimum

plus remember, this site supports "Cypher's Communist Cuba".. soooo he IS our dictator, so whatever he says goes...

Cool I’m like halfway there :D all I have to do is make up words. I think it would be a good idea then the winner is like the people choice. The winner gets like little award thingy to chuck bellow the messages. Or a cookie what ever is cool .

Everyone here has basically equal rights of what they say and it’s a great community. The admins are doing an excellent job and there is no reason to change what is currently working.

But yes having a mock election could prove interesting, Sadly I don't think I would have a chance since I am relatively new but hey maby in the future :) . A rule should be that say someone gets put in for election that they have to have say sent up to 400 posts. Not stupid one word posts either. Like posts that are actually on topic and make relative sense.

All us new members can only hope that we may be as fortunate as the 5 lucky people that get picked if this goes ahead in the future if an event such as this would occur.

so basically be the bush of the net ;) couldent be to hard but i like the cs setup and i'm not to worryed about getting a custom one because it would or could be a bad thing :) . But it could also be a good thing.

But i think i'd rather stick to the usual system unless i actually start posting Philosophical post by the bus load .... that could be interesting but i'd need to be overly addicted to the net and yeah i'm on the net but as soon as its a nice day or my friends have soemething planed i'm out and about so yeah.
