i think i figured out why...
the gaming companies want kids to stop studying for school and start playing their games. This would cause the kids to get bad grades and drop out of school and become game addicts for the rest of their lives. kinda like the cigarette companies, get the kdis addicted early so when they grow to legal age, they are customers for life

Or because families go away on vacation over the summer.
Vacation to flordia = no video game system
no system = no buying games
no buying games = no money
no money = teh suxxor
so when the kids get back, they have a nice new collection to look for...
Also note that games are released quarterly, hence the line-up you speak of was set for the early fall release, hence why they are out at school start...

Heh... that is wierd though. Youd think overall that kids would have more time to play the games over summer vacation, and therefore they would buy more games then...
Oh well

I'd second alliedyouth's suggestion of CotM, also the new GBA castlevania just came out today (Harmony of Dissonance).

So far I think Circle of the Moon is better. Harmony of Dissonance is way too easy, I played for like 2 hours and I'm somewhere in the 80% complete area and well into the 2nd castle. The music as predicted is bad, but not as bad as I thought it would be. The graphics are nice, strait from Sympathy of the Night. Plus its brighter so its easier to see then CotM, but I play mine on TV so it that really don't matter. In the end what can I say? Its Castlevaina and it roxxors. :)

Thanx Death, I didn't know it was already out. I just got back from buying it. Bestbuy didn't have it so I went to the local Willow Grove mall and picked it up, ran into my foreign friend Samir aswell.

is it just me or is harmony of dissonance horribly easy? so far i've blown through every boss with realtive ease (~5-6 of them). Graphics are good but the difficulty is easier than SotN was, although i havent tried hard mode yet.

Sofar I've fought 3-4 of em and never even had to potion up. I still like the game though

The beginning is easy but once I got to the second castle it is harder. The enemis aren't much more difficult it's just that now there are 2 castles to worry about finding itmes and such in.

the enemies do get harder but the bosses are pitifully easy, bosses like talos and death seemed to only want to attack some invisible person that only they could see while i'm half a screen away wailing on them. And most of the others seemed to be too afraid to actually try and hit me more than once or twice. Having gotten through everything but the last part there has only been one boss that gave me a little trouble
*SPOILERS*
Maxim, but he was only hard because he blends in with all the effects in the background so you cant tell where the hell he is. And even at that i got him easily the second time. Still a very good game though, but i wish the bosses were a little bit more difficult.

COTM at times was near impossible, HOD is very easy. I think that SYmphony of the night is the medium of the 2. HOD having the big castle like the others plus the 2nd makes it kinda irratating with there not being as many "warp" points as there could be.

I think the reason HOD is easy is because a lot of people found COTM to be way too hard. Personally I liked COTM's difficulty, I didn't find it hard enough that it was impossible but at the same time it wasn't a game I can walk through like SOTN and HOD. I found SOTN and HOD to be very easy. But hey, I'm not bashing any of them. Castlevania games pwn and I got all three of them on my shelf. ;)

I love the games too. COTM wasn't that incredibly hard just that some bosses would fill the screen with projectiles and even worse is that they somtimes would blend right in with the background. SOTN is my fav. It's probably because I'd rather play it on a large screen then have to go through the hassel of getting just the right light which was always the case with COTM. I did soon find the perfect spot in my room for playing it, awkwards position but worked. SOTN was nice also cause you didn't have to stick with the wip the entire time because personaly it gets kinda old having just the whip that can be swung forward.

I did like the card system in COTM, I don't see how people called it "to complicated". I'd much prefer it over the spellbook system in HOD. If you could somhow combine books, weapons or maybe carry multiple subweapons then I'd like it more.

Isn't it all all blocky looking?
Abysthor
09-23-2002, 12:04 PM
Depends on which mode I use. Full screen yes, normal screen no. You see the thing I use lets me put it on full screen or normal screen. When its on full screen it stretches to fit and since TV's are shaped alittle more differently then the GBA screen the image distorts and gets kinda blocky. Because of that I play on normal screen. On normal it has a black boarder and the image is shaped like the GBA screen. In this mode the image does not distort or get real blocky. Just picture it as playing a SNES with GBA's better graphics.

HOw much was it? Cause all the ones I've seen just expand it to the tv screen size, no border to make it not distort

I bought it for around $50 on eBay a few months ago. I think it was worth it but I got 2 minor problems with it.
1) Part of the attachment plugs into the battery port, therefore you have to use an AC adapter. It comes with one but its cord is kinda short. Lucky for me I got a plug right in range of my TV.
2) The attachment gets a bit hot. I can still sit and play for like 8 fucking hours on those days I got nothing to do but it can get irritating sometimes. But when it starts to get annoying I just unplug and play my GBA normally for like a half hour until it cools.

Guess I should add that by saying "irritating" I mean its annoying. On hot days its annoying to hold something warm like that for so long. On cold days however its a gift from the videogame God. Keeps my hands feeling so cozy and nice. :)

Well, then you should know its called "TV de Advance." Your best bet is to search eBay or if not that then a Japanese import site. Oh yeah, the instructions are in Japanese. So if you pick one up let me know, I'll walk you through installation. Its easy I'll give you a brief summary, just pop off back cover, remove ribbon, slide in new ribbon, put new cover on, close it up, put the cords on, and play. Takes about 5 minutes when you know what to do.
