Counting how many times each word appears within the source code for the linux kernel itself, particularly including comments.

what else is new. here I'll give you an excuse to spam another response:

If you were to search the source code for linux, you would find those swear words in the source code, and the graph shows how they have changed as the new kernals were released.

Saw that like a week ago. I wonder what distro's kernel that is, honestly. Must be slackware or something.

I'd guess Gentoo, but only because I probably thought/said most of those *while* it was compiling ;)

Probably Slackware or Debian (or maybe even SuSE, are they still around?)... for it to have been around for all those kernel versions.

I think it's the base kernel for all distro's, unless I"m missing my mark. What marks a distro is what other stuff they include with it and how they present it, but the kernel always remains constant.

But yeah, I've probably said most of those while installing the OS and recompiling the kernel. :)

good stuff :P I remember someone did this for the leaked windows source also, with similar results.

But were the swear words within the code itself, or exclamations by people reading it?
