Police should be removed from the immigration process so as to not deter otherwise law abiding citizens from avoiding the police. What I'd like to see done is:
-Grant amnesty and citizenship for any immigrants currently living here.
-Simplify the process and reduce cost for immigrating here, so that people don't give up on the system and come illegaly
-Harsh penalties for employers who employ people illegaly, foreign or not
-End the drug war, which will help stabalize mexico, and hurt the drug lords and smugglers
-deport all white people from the midwest, to make room for more immigrants

How do they prove they've been here to receive amnesty? I could jump the border and say i've been here for 3 years.
-Prevent illegals from using any government sponsored/regulated services
-Harsher penalties for employers who hire illegals
-Make the immigration process easier and more accessible.
-Illegals caught will be given the option to immigrate (start process and stay state side) or be deported. Immigration option would be dependent on them having no criminal/outstanding records in US or prior country and proof of identity.

Re: Arizona's new Immigration law... comes to Utah?
I talked for awhile at work to a guy who just moved here. He was a cop down at Arizona. All for profiling. He was saying that if you aren't... You aren't going to be very successful at being a cop. If he sees a black man dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, he won't worry about it. If he sees one dressed all gangsta and blaring rap music, I quote "You bet your ass I'm going to keep my eye on him."
In regards to immigration, he was saying that a good cue to check is if they cannot speak any English at all. If they can, it's pretty reasonable to assume they are here legally.
Oh if it makes a difference (it shouldn't probably) he was black.

Well I went to the doctor, I said, "I'm feeling kinda rough".
He said, "Let me break it to you son... Your shit's fucked up."
I said, "My shit's fucked up?"

I don't really disagree with any of that. It's still racist.
I guess what I'm getting at is that to enforce immigration laws well, you're gonna have to bring some racism into it. The US has historically been full of lots of white people and a significant minority of black people. Pretty much all the people who want to come here are brown people.
Immigration enforcement is about 90% race, 10% paperwork. As I said before, whether or not it's legal racism is for the courts to decide. I just live here. And I'm white, so my life is pretty cush.

I don't see that as racist, really. Profiling, yes. Racist, no. I see that as following common sense. If it were racist that cop would also be profiling the black man in the jeans and t-shirt, but here we're seeing the defining line between 'ignore the guy' and 'keep your eyes on him' as a behavioral issue. If you asked that cop if he would also keep a lookout on a white guy who was dressed all gangsta and blaring rap music, he'd likely also say yes.
Why? Because people of low character tend to present themselves in a manner that is considered anti social more often than not. Does that mean every person who carries themselves in such a way is a criminal? Of course not. Some of the worst criminals wear a suit and tie. It does provide an easily identifiable way of indicating who might have a higher risk of being up to no good, however.
I'll be the first person to admit I profile people at work. If I'm walking around my store and I see some guy with greasy hair, stubble on his face, and unkempt clothes, I'm going to shadow him around the store until he either leaves or buys something. Could he be a homeless man or a druggie out to steal something? Maybe. Could he be a construction worker who just got off a job? Maybe. Either way, I'm going to keep watch on him in order to reduce the potential for theft.
