SpiralX was established on October 4, 2000 by Dan Hinman. Nine years, and several versions later, SpiralX is still going with a core of, close, dedicated members. Our community is a unique group of users who chat, share and debate about all subject matter on the forums.

The original idea for SpiralX, or SX as many users like to call it, was a learning tool for the owner. A playground on the web in which to expirment with web code, blog, and share interests with friends and guests. Much like it's original design, the idea behind what SX should be has changed significantly; but it has never truely settled on any one concept.

When SpiralX started, it was a personal blog and host site for other creative individuals. As the website evolved, a sub-site formed in tribute to the computer game Diablo II. This site was the central ground for a gaming guild called Dark Mages (DM). The mission for the DM group, was to create a trusted circle of players to whome the game could be played and shared with. The group was considered very successful amongst its members and expanded into other popular games including Counter-Strike, WarCraft, StarCraft, Guild Wars and WOW. The Dark Mages operated through SX, but all of its members started at another web forum specifically for DII.

The big boom of SpiralX's growth came when several (ok, a lot) users mirgrated over from the other fan-site. Some came by choice, but many came out of conflicts of interest with the operators of the other website. For whatever reason, many of them stayed, and more members joined through out the years.
